Executive Leadership Coaching for School Boards
Leadership can be isolating. It shouldn’t have to be.
Superintendents, principals, vice-principals and system leaders operate in an increasingly complex and highly scrutinized environment.
There are policies to follow. People to lead. Difficult conversations to navigate. Competing priorities to balance. And decisions that often need to be made when there is no obvious right answer.
System leaders operate in an increasingly complex, highly scrutinized educational environment. While system mentoring programs and colleagues provide vital operational orientation, leaders often need a different kind of support:
- A Safe, Non-Evaluative Space: To think out loud, test assumptions, and process strategic friction without judgment.
- Personal & Strategic Resilience: To navigate complex board dynamics and maintain well-being under pressure.
- Clarity Before Action: To step back, gain perspective, and lead forward with confidence.
Mentors and colleagues can provide valuable guidance, but sometimes leaders need something different: a completely confidential, non-evaluative space to think out loud, challenge their assumptions and find clarity before moving forward.
For high-achieving leaders, this isn’t just taking time off—it is an existential shift. Without a clear architecture for what comes next, the loss of purpose can manifest as deep grief, anxiety, clinical depression, and serious physical health decline.
As a Certified Executive Leadership Coach who sat in the senior seat as a Superintendent, I have lived through the exact grief, identity crisis, and quiet isolation that follows leaving a career of massive purpose and responsibility. You cannot simply “relax” your way through losing the title that anchored your identity for decades.
That is where executive coaching comes in.
Coaching From Someone Who Knows the System
I spent 7 years as a Superintendent of Education with the Waterloo Region District School Board, following 5 years as a school principal and vice-principal.
I have navigated high-stakes human resource issues, complex conflict, organizational change and system-wide challenges from inside public education.
This isn’t coaching from someone looking into the education system from the outside.
I have sat in the chair.
Today, I bring that experience into a confidential coaching relationship designed to help education leaders slow down, think clearly and lead with greater intentionality.
A Different Kind of Leadership Support
Mentoring can tell you how the system works.
Consulting can tell you what someone else thinks you should do.
Coaching helps you determine how you want to lead.
Executive leadership coaching creates an equal, non-directional partnership where leaders can explore challenges without being evaluated, managed or given another set of instructions.
It’s a place to ask the questions that may be difficult to ask anywhere else.
To work through conflict before responding.
To examine options before making a high-stakes decision.
To strengthen executive presence.
To reconnect with personal agency when the demands of leadership begin to overwhelm it.
And ultimately, to become more intentional about how you lead.

The coaching relationship provides a confidential space to regain perspective, protect your energy and approach challenges with greater clarity and intention.
Includes mid-point and closing self-reflection tools to help leaders recognize their growth and development.
Voluntary. Confidential. Built for Leaders.
The strongest coaching relationships happen when people choose to be there.
For that reason, participation is voluntary. Leaders enter the coaching relationship because they want a confidential sounding board and an opportunity to strengthen how they lead, not because coaching has been assigned as a corrective measure.
This creates the psychological safety required for honest conversations, meaningful reflection and genuine leadership growth.
Invest in the Leaders Already Leading
Supporting leadership capacity isn’t simply professional development.
It is an investment in the people carrying some of the greatest responsibility within the education system.
Executive leadership coaching can be supported through existing board leadership and professional development allocations, including Executive and Board Administration budgets, System Leadership Capacity or Program Leadership funding, and local principal association professional development funds.
Let’s Talk About Your Board
Executive coaching programs can be co-created around the needs of individual leaders or developed as a leadership support initiative within your school board.
Start a conversation with me about what that could look like for your leadership team.
ENGAGEMENTS
Work With Angie
Every leadership journey is different. Whether you’re looking for one-on-one guidance, support for your team, or an inspiring keynote, we’ll find the right path forward together.
Retirement by Design.
Retirement is celebrated as a continuous vacation, but the human reality is far more complex. Research shows that after the initial high of the “honeymoon phase” wears off, the sudden loss of structure, authority, and professional identity frequently triggers a profound emotional dip.
Executive Leadership Coaching
The higher you lead, the fewer places you have to think out loud.
Leadership comes with responsibility.
Decisions affect people. Difficult conversations can’t always be avoided. Priorities compete. Expectations increase. And the more senior your role becomes, the harder it can be to find a truly objective place to work through what you’re facing.
